The joy and the bliss continue. My relationship is even better than I ever expected. This man is warm, caring, adoring, loving, funny, smart, etc….the list of adjectives is long. But even better is the person I am becoming in this relationship. I seem to be digging deeper rather than falling into old patterns of bad behavior. And when I do falter it seems that he understands and that allows for amazing insights into myself and the judgements we seem to create in our lives. A smile is permanent now.
Remember the old song when we were kids “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands…” well the other day someone said that and it struck me. I’ve often heard “fake it till you make it” and thought, well it may be possible but who are you really kidding?
But I’m thinking there might be some truth to all of this. If we tell ourselves that we are miserable and that our life sucks doesn’t that just reinforce what we see? But if we say to ourselves….my life is strong, powerful and I am headed exactly where I should. I have friends, family, love, and happiness and the sun is shining…in essense ‘I am happy and I know it’ clap clap clap…..doesn’t that lighten us up?
So while I don’t like the phrasing ‘fake it till you make it’ I understand the truth behind it. So I am gonna say, when you feel unsure, worried, or that your life isn’t taking the turn you want I urge you to sing that little ditty. “Are you happy and you know it clap you hands….clap clap clap”. And see what you feel. If that one line isn’t enough then go on to: “Are you happy and you know it…stomp your feet….say yahoo….keep going until you start to smile and the light goes on.
Everyone knows that everything we need in life we learned in kindergarten so put this oldie but goodie to use and lighten up your life and for goodness sake….if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands!!!!
